NS: I have no fear about finding the Farscape comics, I have more fear about finding a local comics store. Several have gone under around here, and the closest I'm aware of is about 15 miles away.

Farscape episodes: They've been talking about them since before they were talking about the comics. I have, sadly, no hope that they will ever happen.

And check out SciFiGenre.com. If you cannot find the Farscape comics at your local, they probably have it. And they do not rip you off on shipping like TFAW does.

I have to say I was also skeptical about it, appeal-wise. I don't agree with the remark made in the video that "it's unnatural to pull out your phone in the grocery store and google an item" - we see people doing that all the time. (Can't remember if I said this in the cast, so sorry if I'm being redundant.)

But then, I don't have an internet-ready phone, either. I don't feel the need to be that constantly connected, but I recognize that others do. And others also think it'd be way cool to look like Tom Cruise (in Minority Report, I mean, not jumping on Oprah's couch...)

The appeal is that you don't have to pull out the phone to look things up. You can just be looking at the item and, boom, the information you wanted about it pops up.

Gottoon,

We love this tech, too.

Glad you're stickin' with us. That post (no longer available for public viewing) was borne out of frustration, and steps are being taken to alleviate the tensions that prompted the post to be written in the first place.

Never fear, we're still here!

Hola, Welcome back to the cast Mrs. Fondue.

Love this technology idea. I am a huge fan of the instant access to data. I will be the first in line for the direct neural interface to the web.

On other notes, I am glad to see the continuation of the cast. I was a little distraught after reading the last post. Keep it up... I don't even have an iTunes account to comment with. I will work on that sometime this week if not I will try and get it done on my travel days.

Later guys...

Heh. Exactly.

I work with 11 operators who really need to be able to handle measuring in 1/32". With some smacking around, I can get 5 of them to do it. If we used milimeters, instead of inches, I am sure I could get those 5 to do it without the smackings.

The other 6 are just hopeless, so, no matter there.

Nomad Scry,

Clearly as the technology advances, the way we pass on our information will need to become more efficient. The Dvorak keyboard, for example, being faster for the modern keystroking on machines which don't have the cock-ups with levered type sets will probably be the direction we go in... of course, here in the states, we still use the English measurement system, because the metric system is much too... simple (?)... to understand...

The future outlined for replacing the keyboard with the mind reading device worries me somewhat. In the near future, as the current generation learns how to "type" with intentions, I am totally sold on the idea that the reading device would detect the brain signals that correspond to each letter as you would type them out with your fingers.

But what happens when the next generation comes along? Are we going to teach them, first keyboarding so that they can type, and then the brain training so that the crown can tell what they are typing?

We certainly could develop better interfaces, but what worries me is that we are still using the QWERTY keyboard instead of something that has been optimized for faster and more efficient computer input. The QWERTY layout is optimized for a mechanical keystrike type of typewriter that we no longer use. And yet, here we are, stuck with an inefficient method because of ... ?

In other words, great topic! You really got me thinking.

Awesome Episode guys... I am all over that game headset, in about 6 months when I have the money to buy a new system... did you see the system requirements for that thing. As many of you know I am a gadget lover and a gamer. So I have some really cool game devices. This would be a great addition to my collection. Many have been retired because PC games have really fallen off the map.

I have used the bone induction headsets with a two way radio. They are awesome because you literally hear the sound in the center of your head. Best headset I have every used.

Second... sounds like you were talking about Cylon Projection there for a bit! What a way to live doing one thing that you hate doing and believing and seeing you are doing something fun and exciting.

Later

1. As soon as November & NaNoWriMo is done I will be devouring my copy of the latest WoT book. And it is Brandon Sanderson, not ...ah ... did you say David?

2. It makes me livid that "they" decided to reorder the Chronicles of Narnia. So stupid. Aaaaaaaaaah!

3. I somehow never managed to read the rest of the series, but Darkness of Sethanon was awesome. And I dug the Janny Wurts collab series.

4. I love Weis & Hickman, but the original Dragonlance trilogy is the best they've ever done. That series makes my hair stand up.

5. Sandman is awesome because it touches everything and yet it rarely involves Morpheus but somehow everything does. This goes in the pile of awesome that makes me cry on multiple read throughs. Like the end of season one of Farscape. But that isn't fantasy.

2. It makes me livid that “they” decided to reorder the Chronicles of Narnia. So stupid. Aaaaaaaaaah!
