Aliens descend. Humans act as they do, which is to say: like a kicked ant hill. Each nation starts acting in their own interests. The end result is much like that of contact from a parallel reality. We all die. Hooray!
No, I’m not pessimistic. Humph.
Interesting idea, Lejon. I agree, though I do think it is possible to play nice with the aliens, if hostilities arose (which, due to our paranoia as a species, they undoubtedly will), we would probably be the ones who fired the first shot.
Anyway, I saw that I haven’t posted in awhile, so I thought I’d give the monolith a touch.

I personally believe that even if we were able to eventually make nice with the aliens, due to our paranoia as a species, if hostilities arose at all, we would probably shoot first, then when we make peace, we will feign ignorance.
So…I guess it’s safe to say that I mostly agree with Lejon. However, I do believe that it’s possible to make friends with the aliens as well, I’m just finding it unlikely that it’ll be love at first sight.

I still hold that people can grow and evolve, or else be destroyed. Much like the “Grow or Die” movement. I think Puffy is organizing it after his “Vote or Die” thing…
If Puffy is in, I’m out. ‘Nuff said.
I don’t know about Bob and all his touchy-feely Aliens. I think Lejon has the more logical conclusion of a real alien landing. But, who are we kidding here, there would fist have to be aliens in our universe. Second, be evolved enough to be space travelers. Third, be bored enough to bother themselves with our tiny little planet. Fourth, care about us even if they did stumble on to our existence.
Logical and mathematical conclusion states that two races of enough inelegance to even communicate with each other existing at the same time in the same universe is so close to impossible that the idea of actually meeting face to face completely… I don’t know a word that fits the end of that statement.
Don’t take me the wrong way… I love the imagination at work with such stories.
